Canada helps fight child abuse
The campaign to educate the public about the sexual abuse of children has received a boost, courtesy of the Canadian government. On Tuesday Luc Freshette of the Canadian High Commission, based in Jamaica, presented a thirty-two thousand dollar cheque to Elias Awe, secretary of NOPCA-SAVES, in Belmopan. SAVES, the Sexual Abuse Victim Education and Support programme works within the framework of the National Organisation for the Prevention of Child Abuse. It operates Marla’s House of Hope, a shelter named in memory of its founder, the late Dr. Marla Holder.
