Health authorities issue soup recall

If you stocked up on canned soup for the hurricane season and are now ready to eat from your stock, health authorities suggest you be careful. Notice has been received that a shipment of four different soups from Canada may contain potentially fatal botulinium bacteria. The soups carry the yellow “No Name” brand and are labeled in both English and French. The four types under recall are condensed cream of celery, condensed cream of mushroom, condensed vegetable soup with beef broth and condensed cream of chicken. All four are in the two hundred and eighty-four millilitre size. Brodies is the importer of the soups, which may have been under-processed by the manufacturers in Canada. If you have purchased any of these four varieties please take them back to Brodies or the shop where they were purchased for a full refund. Note that other soups from the same manufacturer, like chicken noodle and vegetable beef, are perfectly safe to eat. Symptoms of botulism poisoning are nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, dryness of mouth and difficulty in speaking. Advanced cases can cause paralysis and death.
