Three arrested in $45,000 robbery
One week after three men stole a safe containing forty-five thousand dollars from a super market in Santa Elena; the police have made an arrest. Thirty-four year old ex-police officer, Hart Gillett of San Ignacio, thirty-seven year old Ernest Thompson of Esperanza and thirty-one year old Kurt “Mob” Morgan of San Ignacio have been arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and robbery. In the early morning of November twenty-fourth, Yuen Yuen Super Mart was broken into and a heavy iron safe was dragged out of the building. Several of the store’s employees were threatened and one was beaten with a pistol before the robbers fled with the safe in a red car. The three men appeared in Magistrate’s Court in Belmopan this morning and were remanded to Hattieville until their next court date on December twelfth.
