Traffic accident claims driver’s life
A man is dead after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned on the Northern Highway. According to Orange Walk police they received a report on Sunday morning about an accident on the Mamayal Curve between miles fifty-nine and sixty. Upon reaching the site, police saw a blue four-door car, which had overturned and landed on top of the right side of the culvert. Inside the car, was the lifeless body of the driver, identified as twenty-six year old Juan Jose Velasquez, a Salvadoran mason of Corozal. According to a sixteen-year old minor, he and twenty-four year old Jose Sosa were travelling along with Velasquez to Corozal Town. However as they reached the curve sometime between two-thirty and three that morning, he saw Velasquez falling asleep. The vehicle then started to run off the road, but when Velasquez attempted to regain control, it was too late. Sosa, who was sleeping in the back seat, complains of chest pains, while the minor sustained cuts and wounds to the face.
