60 More Persons Arrested for Breaking S.O.E. Regulations
Sixty more persons were arrested on Monday night for breaking the rules declared under the State of Emergency Powers Regulations. According to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, thirty-nine persons were arrested for being unable to provide a reason for movement outside of the curfew period which is between five a.m. and eight p.m. Nineteen persons were arrested for breach of curfew while two persons were arrested for failing to practice social distancing. These persons will be arraigned and will face fines of up to five thousand dollars. The continued reluctance of members of the public has Prime Minister Dean Barrow upset. PM Barrow says something will be done to halt the public’s disobedience.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“When last I spoke to you I told you about the fact that people still seem to be reluctant to comply. The Commissioner reported that again last night there were so many people who had broken the curfew including persons who had broken the curfew before. Now we are going to do something about that. Nobody is here to threaten anyone, but that can’t be allowed to continue and so we are going to do something about that.”
