Literacy programme planned for Independence
Residents of Independence Village in the Stann Creek District will soon have the opportunity to sharpen their reading, writing and numeracy skills. Today a community conference brought together residents who assessed the literacy needs of the area and found that there is dire need to improve the situation. With that in mind, organizers are planning to identify volunteers to run a literacy programme to deal with the problem. Also planned is the establishment of a literacy centre for the village.
