Most bakeries increase bread price
Consumers have apparently resigned themselves to higher bread prices, just as the nation’s motorists have learned to live with increases in the cost of gasoline and diesel. A check of bakeries today found that Maria Chang’s “Nice” brand bread was retailing at $1.25, as was the well-known loaf from La Popular. Zebedee Pitterson’s “Sunny and Tan” was still holding out at a dollar, but a source in the bakery said that they would soon be following the upward trend.
