Rains flood out Family Court
The Belize Family Court deals with the stormiest of disputes on a regular basis…but today the operation succumbed to some rainy weather. The staff was sent home for their own safety as water poured throughout the office on the top floor of the Commercial Centre. They’ve had the problem before, but apparently Hurricane Keith made a bad situation even worse. Attorney General Godfrey Smith told News Five that monies have been allocated to repair the damage and work should begin early next week. Since this morning News Five has been receiving phone calls from concerned parents enquiring where they should pick up their vouchers. We tried to contact Family Court Judge Margaret Nicholas, but we were unable to reach her. Whether any special arrangements have been made we do not know, but according to Chief Justice Abdullah Conteh, as far as he is aware, services should return to normal on Monday.
