School warden and minor arrested for gun possession

A school warden and a minor from Belize City are tonight behind bars after they were charged with firearm offences. After a police bust over the weekend, twenty-two year old Rosemarie Reyes and her fourteen year old brother who is a student, appeared in court today and were charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded for three months by Magistrate Sharon Frazer. While Reyes was sent to prison, her sibling was remanded to the Belize Youth Hostel and given special arrangements for him to attend school. Both are due back in court on December seventh. Allegations are that this past Saturday, at about five-thirty a.m., police searched a home on Pitter’s Street and found a twelve gauge pump action shot gun along with four live rounds of ammunition. Reyes and the minor were at home during the search.
