Fire at Chetumal Dumpsite Affecting Corozaleños

A fire across the northern border, at a dumpsite, has been brought under control, but the smoke continues to billow, affecting residents of the area as well as of the Corozal District.  According to online reports from Chetumal, the fire broke on Saturday and by Sunday; it had swept through forty percent of the dumpsite. It is not known what caused the blaze, but the extremely high temperatures are suspected to be the source of fires sparking everywhere. Two previous fires have been reported at the dumpsite in recent days which have put a strain on resources in Othon P. Blanco.
