Minor Charged for Taxi Man Murder

Matias Alpuche

A teenage boy, who is believed to have brutally killed fifty-four-year-old Matias Alpuche, is in the custody of Orange Walk Police. He was caught on Tuesday morning after investigators launched an operation. The alleged juvenile killer was caught in a car while on the Guinea Grass Road in the Orange Walk District, but is believed to be from Corozal.  The minor is accused of stabbing Alpuche several times on Sunday while he operated his taxi on the Honey Camp Road. The motive behind the callous slaying is yet to be determined and on Monday Alpuche’s estranged wife told News Five that she doesn’t know who would want to attack him and why.

“No. He didn’t tell me nothing. He just came and said it is too slow for the taxi and he came right here and relaxed. He sat over there and then he said that he was going.”

Hipolito Novelo

“How long was he running taxi for?”

Lourdes Cocom

“Recently. Like last week Thursday he started.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Why would anyone want to hurt him?”

Lourdes Cocom

“I really don’t know.”
