P.S.U.’s First VP says PM Needs to do Fact Checking
Also on Friday, Prime Minister Dean Barrow stated that ministers, chief executives officers and heads of departments will also be making a sacrifice which is much more than what public officers are contributing. P.S.U.’s Dean Flowers says that the Prime Minister needs to check his facts before going before a microphone.

“That is the picture that he attempted to paint. I don’t know who he was able to convince of that but certainly he did not convince the public officers of that who are the individuals who are more impacted. We had initially we had put out an information sheet to our members which shows to contrary to the Prime Minister’s assertion that public officers would be giving up far more and way more than the Prime Minister and his ministers. We will continue to highlight this showing the different numbers. I showed that if a junior public officer is to give up his nine hundred dollars increment that the PM spoke about. In ten years time if that public officer if we are talking about someone who is forty five years old and below a pay scale of ten. If you look at an increment of nine hundred dollars per annum that individual will be effectively be giving up nine thousand dollars over the court of ten years while the Prime Minister’s junior minister who he spoke highly of who would be giving up four thousand five hundred dollars would merely be giving up five thousand one hundred dollars if we look at that over a ten year period. The nine hundred dollars increment that the Prime Minister is talking about is not a onetime foregoing of nine hundred dollars. It is something that you would be foregoing up until the time you exit the service. So we are saying based on the time value of money there is no way that we will agree to give up far more than what the Prime Minister, his ministers, H.O.D.s and C.E.O.s are prepared to give up.”
