Belize City pedestrian killed by truck
The weekend was a bad one for both drivers and pedestrians. In Belize City, a man was knocked down and killed on Dolphin Street shortly after 7:00 on Sunday night. Gilbert Gibson reported to police that he was driving a truck on Dolphin Street towards a street leading to the Old City Council Compound. When he reached the junction of Dolphin Street and the unnamed street, the right side view mirror of the truck hit Delroy Menzies, who was riding on his bicycle with 2-year old Nicole Menzies. Delroy was knocked unconscious, while Nicole received minor injuries. Both persons were transported to the KHMH While Nicole was admitted for observations, Delroy died at about 1:20 Monday morning. In relation to the incident Gilbert Gibson was arrested and charged for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, and negligent grievous harm.
