FECTAB Sides with Stake Bank Cruise Port
As we reported on Thursday, FECTAB was founded in 2010 by Tom Greenwood, Yhonny Rosado, Troy Gabb and two others who have since defected from the organization. Gabb is now the project coordinator for the Stake Bank Cruise Port, an endeavor being undertaken by the Feinstein Group of Companies. There are some within the organization who are concerned about the apparent conflict of interest that their leaders are avidly supporting the Stake Bank project while strongly criticizing another proposed cruise terminal in Belize City. While David Almendarez, who has taken up the baton from President Tom Greenwood, has gone on the defensive for the strong position he took against the membership on Wednesday, he says that FECTAB supports the Stake Bank project because promises have been made for members. According to Almendarez, FECTAB will be given a twenty-five-year lease at Stake Bank.

“It seems that you guys have aligned yourselves with the Stake Bank project as opposed to any other cruise tourism development or any other organization for that matter. Doesn’t that reflect a one-sidedness whereas maybe there are other members of FECTAB who would want to have an opportunity with the other projects or what have you?”
David Almendarez, Executive, FECTAB
“Eena life yoh married who love you. Yoh go da bed with who wahn go da bed with you. Eena all our time from preexistence going to Terminal One, I have always felt harassed. I always feel eena my own country, like my tour operating country noh as good as the outside ones. From the inception of this project the Feinstein Group of Companies have been welcoming. We have discussed, noh only fi tour guides, lengths of ideas on how we could create cross and how we could do it. Dis da wahn pie weh done deh ya, di shovel done deh eena di ground, ih schedule to bear in eighteen months, as the good businessmen that we are and the good business people that we tend to be, why not do business with somebody who wahn do business with you. We noh haftu fight dis man, we noh haftu picket ahn, we noh haftu run ahn down. We’re not in bed with him but he is in bed with us so that when his business kicks off he wahn give we wahn air conditioned spot fi twenty-five years weh some our same members right now weh di attack us, wahn be able fi use. The beautiful thing about FECTAB even when we di fight, even if you hate we you benefit you know and this right ya, I know it’s going to be a resounding success and our people need to appreciate and be part of success and when you have the opportunity to do it, you grab it, yoh noh bite di finger.”
