Police Have 1 Suspect for Abner Novelo’s Murder
Investigators have identified one suspect in connection to the brutal murder of Abner Novelo. The victim was found with chop and gunshot wounds on a farm off the San Antonio Road in Orange Walk. His knees were slashed and his right arm had been severed. He was the caretaker of the farm where he was found. Whoever wanted him dead knew he was there at that specific time. Investigators believe that Novelo knew his murderer or murderers. There are no witnesses to the crime, but according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, investigators are zeroing on a suspect.

“The family remains in communication with the police. I am not going to go to the extent of that cooperation but they are in dialogue with the police.”

“Are you able to say what makes the investigators believe that this might be a drug deal gone wrong?”
Chester Williams
“Yes we do believe that it might have some drug relations. So we are looking at it from that angel as well.”
Hipolito Novelo
“In terms of suspects, I know yesterday Mister Myvett said no suspects or no motive have been established but are you able to say if there were more than two persons that did this and that they knew each other and that they knew that he was there at that time?”
Chester Williams
“There is a particular suspect that we are looking at at this time but we have not been able to get anything substantial on him to be able to bring him in for an interview.”
