Cops Not Enforcing S.O.E. Regulations Enough?
The Prime Minister will on Friday measures that will give more freedom of movement during the state of emergency. But while ComPol says that the department is doing the best it can, he feels that some officers are not doing enough to enforce the S.O.E. regulations. Williams says that they may be more focused on certain aspects, but major infractions are not being policed accordingly. Here’s how he describes it.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“The police need to be more vigilant in terms of targeting these houses that continue to have social activities. At this time, you will know that the state of emergency regulation did speak to the fact that there should be no social activity of any kind but we still see that to some extent the police have become loose in enforcing certain aspects of the regulations instead they are chasing behind people who are not wearing masks, or step out of a vehicle and forget to put on their mask or step out of a house and forget to put on their mask which is less problematic as opposed to persons who are drinking. So, we need to make sure that we streamline that that officers understand more what we need to go after.”
