Will 4 B.D.F. Officers Be Charged in Connection with Fatal Helicopter Crash
Tonight there is new information coming out the B.D.F.’s internal investigation into the fatal helicopter crash. News Five has learnt that the investigation has uncovered a series dereliction of duties, which resulted in some cases in the failure to carry out standard operational checks. Now, sources say that the B.D.F. is looking at four persons responsible, while we have received the names and units of these individuals, tonight we can only share the ranks of these officers, two captains and two majors. Reports suggest that the persons named for failing to carry out their duties on morning of the fatal crash have since lawyered up to take on the internal charges from the B.D.F.
But there is consideration that all four may be sent home based on the findings, but there is also concern that the four are being made the scapegoats in what they say is a much bigger, chronic problem at the B.D.F. The fatal accident happened in the early hours of the morning of Thursday, February twenty-seventh when the B.D.F. went to provide air support to ground forces in the interception of a drug plane that landed in the area of Gales Point, Manatee. The helicopter crashed in the Western Lagoon, killing its crew of four highly decorated B.D.F. officers: pilots Commanding Officer of the Air Wing, Major Adran Ramirez, Deputy Air Wing Commanding Officer, Major Radford Baizar and Corporals Yassir Mendez and Reinaldo Choco.
