Accident trashes vehicles but drivers unharmed
After four this evening an accident occurred at mile four on the Northern Highway. It involved a Ford 250 pickup truck belonging to Bowen and Bowen Limited and Daihatsu Delta pickup truck owned by Madisco. Both vehicles were headed towards Belize City when they collided. Pedro Sanchez, Junior, an employee of Madisco, explained what caused the mishap.

“Well, I mi di come from Ladyville long wid di next vehicle di come from Ladyville. I put on my indicator, start to watch di guy, buzz him wid di horn and suddenly he just swerve in and come to dis areas yah so and den I swerve away from him because I neva want hit ah and accidentally, me and he tek course and he hit di vehicle and di vehicle spin round on impact like I was going back to Ladyville. Nobody get hurt, just wah lee slight knocks and aches and all ah dat. Everybody is alright.”

“I noticed the back of your vehicle come off though.”

“Yeah, well eena di case wid di vehicle back, I swerve weh from he and he hit me pan wah angle so he just brush di front ah di vehicle and di same time kick di back and due to di impact, ih back weh di whole back a di vehicle.”

“You said he hit you, but di impact on his vehicle is on di side.”

“Because at di same time he mi di come een. He just put on ih indicator suddenly pan me. I don deh like half way di pass he and he swerve een sudden so dat dah weh really happen.”
Fortunately, none of the people in the pick up trucks were hurt. The driver for Bowen and Bowen, Milton Lucas, declined an interview but said the accident wasn’t his fault.
