C.A. bodybuilders compete on Saturday
Those glistening hardened bodies are coming to the City Centre this weekend and if you’ve never seen a muscle contest, then the Central American Bodybuilding and Fitness Competition may be a good place to start.

The competition draws competitors from all parts of Central America. Bodybuilders from Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Belize will all be at war on the stage, fighting to show off their guns. The battle will be fought in many divisions, including Bantamweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, Light Heavyweight, and Heavyweight.

“On Friday, we will have the weigh in at Body 2000, where all the bodybuilders will be classified in their weight classes. On Saturday, we will have the preliminaries or what we will have is the prejudging, which is about seventy percent of the contest. Saturday evening, will be the finishing touches of the contest, which will also be judged, so it will be in two parts.”

“You have any women participating in the competition?”

“Yes we have, I must give a big mention to Miss Lornette Sankey, who over the years have always being trying to keep in shape. She’ll be participating in one of the female classes.”
But while Sankey and the international participants are making last minute preparations for Saturday night, hometown champ, Mr. Belize himself, is brushing up on his Albert Street tan because he feels he got the competition whipped.

“I feel very confident with the upcoming contest. I’ve been putting in a lot of work and when I work hard I usually get results. So I feel very confident and I expect to get a gold medal.”
“We just want everybody to come out and support us, we need the fan support. If they scream for us, and they know that we deserve the gold then there is no chance that they could take away the gold from us.”

The prejudging for the competition is scheduled to start at 9:00 Saturday morning and the evening show at City Centre is expected to begin at 5:30. Tickets are ten dollars reserved, five dollars general and three dollars for kids.
