Man believed drowned after fall from skiff
Today, police and citizens of Caye Caulker were out on the sea looking for a young man who is feared dead after he fell off a boat late Saturday night. According to reports from the island, the skiff with four passengers onboard left Belize City around 9:00 that night to go to the island. Sources tell News Five that four miles away from Caye Caulker, twenty-four year old Francisco “Pancho” Morales, was sitting at the bow of the vessel and got up to make his way to the stern. While walking, Morales, who was not wearing a life vest, apparently lost his balance and fell overboard. Although the boat captain turned back to look for the young man, they could not locate him. This afternoon, a relative told News Five that the family believes Morales may have drowned because he cannot swim. Up to news time, the search party has been unable to find Morales.
