New issue of Destination Belize released

Story Picture
We are all familiar with the ads by the Belize Tourist Board, which showcase the best Belize has to offer in an effort to lure tourists and Belizeans alike to explore our country. This time the Belize Tourism Industry Association, BTIA, has teamed up with BTB to publish another issue of the popular magazine Destination Belize.

Nicole Usher, Deputy Director, Marketing/Public Relations

“The 2001 issue of the Destination Belize, we have the prints in the country now, and they are ready for distribution. It’s actually a BTIA publication and the Belize Tourism Board supports the publication by purchasing thirty-five thousand copies of the book. We have twenty-five thousand currently at our fulfillment house in the states, so those are going to be used at trade shows primarily. Whenever we go to trade shows, we ask them to send a certain amount depending on the show and they are distributed there to the travel agents and the press and whoever is at the show at that time. So it’s a very important piece. It’s actually broken down by destination areas. For example you have information on each district and each area within the country as a tourism destination. If you have a look at the book, you can see that they are also a fishing or water sports guide and also an inland section. So there will be reprints for activity guide for each section and that is being worked on now, so we should have that probably by the end of September, hopefully. Those will be distributed to specific markets, people who are interested in specific activities, whether water or inland.”

“The actual content of the Destination Belize includes a breakdown by area or visitor destination. For example, there is a section on Belize City, Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, the San Ignacio area, Dangriga, Placencia and those are only a few. We also have them broken down by activity. So there is a section on caves for example, or river adventures, fishing, diving of course and dining. So it really is broken down by activity as well as destination.”

Usher says that while BTIA. prepares and distributes the magazine locally, BTB promotes it in the international market.
