Were San Pedro Cops Drunk on the Job?

Chester Williams

More news on cops who apparently were not behaving like cops. This time it is about two policemen in San Pedro who were filmed slurring, walking, and acting like they were under the influence of alcohol. Here’s how Commissioner Chester Williams responded when he was asked about the video.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“I saw the video and you and I would agree that apparently drunk is not drunk. There is nothing we have to suggest that those officers in question were under the influence of alcohol or any substance per se. I have spoken to the professional standards branch and they are looking into that matter. So, hopefully in a few days we will be able to know what was the condition of the officers in that particular circumstance? I don’t know what led to the incident per se but it is being looked into at this time.”

Reporter

“But you would agree, again it is not scientific, but you agree that hearing the voice of what is supposedly the officers in that video, it sounds slurred and consistent with someone who is inebriated?”

Chester Williams

“Sometimes I would speak in a slurred manner and it doesn’t mean that I am under the influence, as you see I am doing right now.”
