Eighteen year old pleads guilty to wounding charge
In other court news, an eighteen year old youth was today fined four hundred dollars after he pleaded guilty to beating a Chinese businessman at the Queen Street Police Station. Trevor Lamb admitted to beating Yong Sheng Zhang inside the cellblock at the station around eleven-thirty on January thirtieth. Lamb had first pleaded not guilty but then changed his mind and settled for a guilty plea. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers fined Lamb four hundred dollars and gave him until April thirtieth to pay. In default he will be a guest for four months courtesy of Her Majesty. Zhang told police that he was inside the cellblock when five other inmates attacked him and beat him. In the assault Zhang suffered a cut lip and bruises in his abdomen and right foot. The charge was withdrawn against the other four youths who were originally charged with Lamb.
