Volleyballers doing well in Salvador

Before they left for El Salvador and the Central American Senior Championships, members of Belize’s National Volleyball Team were cautiously optimistic. Tonight there is evidence that their attitude was justified. In their first three outings, Belize’s men’s team won two straight set victories against Guatemala and Nicaragua, while losing a three-two heartbreaker against number one seed Costa Rica. Tonight Belize goes up against host El Salvador and tomorrow at midday plays Honduras. If they are successful in those games they could wind up going for the gold in a rematch on Sunday against Costa Rica. Meanwhile, our women’s team has not had much success, having lost all four of their matches thus far, managing to win only one set out of thirteen.
