George Bull is freed of murder charge
Another murder case fell through the cracks for the prosecution this week when the Crown in the trial of George Bull indicated to the Court that they were withdrawing the charge against him for want of evidence. The trial was set to begin in the Orange Walk session of the Supreme Court, but Crown Counsel, Shalidi Chell Urbina informed the Court that she was entering a nolle prosequi motion because there was nothing that the prosecution had in its records at this time to link Bull to the murder of Jaime Pelayo, Jr. Bull, a resident of Carmelita Village, Orange Walk was committed to stand trial following a preliminary inquiry at the Magistrate’s Court, but the case collapsed before it could get underway at the Supreme Court. The deceased, Pelayo was shot dead on the night of December fifteenth, 2017 while he was socializing with two women in front of a nightspot on the Belize-Corozal Road in Orange Walk Town. One of the women was also injured in the incident. Police had blamed alcohol as the reason for the random attack. Bull was represented in Court by Attorney, Oscar Selgado and Justice Herbert Lord presided over the matter.
