Police Have Concerns About CK Bar After Deadly Weekend Shooting
The location where the deadly weekend shooting took place in San Ignacio is a concern to the police department since it poses serious security risks for patrons of the establishment. CK Bar, according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, is operating a nightclub without a proper license and the fact that regular customers have to wait outside for the first opportunity to enter the premises makes them a target for armed attacks. ComPol Williams says that he has already approached Mayor Earl Trapp about the issue, with a view to cancel CK’s existing license.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We are concerned about this CK Bar. I was in San Ignacio yesterday and I went by to get an appreciation of what the area looks like, as well as the establishment and from my observation, the establishment is a very small building per se. From what I can discern from it is that it is not a place that is suited to be a nightclub and what we gathered is that the fact that the place is so small, it reaches its capacity very early and so prospective patrons would have to wait outside until when those who are in come out and make space for them. That cannot continue and so I have spoken to the Mayor of San Ignacio, Mr. Trapp and I’ll be speaking to the Minister of Local Government today. It is my hope that we can forfeit the nightclub license that they are operating under and they can continue as a public and special, not as a nightclub. And so that is in motion to see what can be done.”
