Library hosts celebrity readers for kids

“Doorstep Tales” is the latest reading programme that will be launched by the National Library Service. The one-hour activity for children between the ages of five and thirteen will be held the last Saturday of each month at the Turton Library Centre on North Front Street. What makes the project interesting is the fact that the children will be entertained by well-known Belizeans, who have committed themselves to read a story and spend quality time with the children. “Doorstep Tales” kicks off this Saturday and parents are encouraged to have their kids participate.

“The objective of this programme is to promote reading as an art form, promote a literate environment, promote community awareness, foster positive socialization. This programme will also provide the children with an opportunity for personal, creative development and access for them to express themselves culturally.”

“Tomorrow, we are going to start off with the Prime Minister of Belize, the Right Honourable Said Musa. He will be here to read stories for the children at ten o’clock and the programme will run for one hour.”

“Doorstep Tales” starts at 10:00 in the morning at the Turton Library Centre on North Front Street.
