“The council’s belief however is that you are piggy backing on their project and seek to use that project to garner votes in that area. Electioneering, I give you a piece of land and you vote for me.”
Ivan Williams, Standard Bearer, Stann Creek West
“I will not piggy backing on anything. The people in Santa Cruz will decide. I am sure that it will be grateful for me to have done something that the village council seem not be able to do, to get the permission to survey. As far as I am concern I have done my part to assist the permission to survey forward. It is now on them to meet the requirements that the Lands Department require. Let us do. I am hopeful that we can have a peaceful meeting on Sunday and the people will understand because sometimes it is best to do things in an open, transparent and accountable way. That is what I stand for. I am not here to fight with anybody but for you to know now who is responsible for whatever stage or process ad I am prepared to work with the chairman and his council to get it through in the interest of the people of Santa Cruz.”
Hipolito Novelo
“How do you move forward with the project if the chairman does not want to give us that list?”
Ivan Williams
“Then it is for him and the Lands Department. We are stuck. We will not be able to proceed. I am not going to take anything or overshadow or put down the village he council. They need to put their act together as far as I am concerned.”
