Boots to Run in Pickstock!
Turning to politics, Port Loyola area representative Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez announced his pending retirement from electoral politics several years ago, indicating that upon completion of this five-year term, he would retreat into private life. His retirement was timid to the retirement of Prime Minister Dean Barrow. That constituency has elected Philip Willoughby as the U.D.P. standard to replace Martinez. But in politics, anything can play and Martinez is now running for the United Democratic Party in Pickstock. That seat has been made available with the departure of three-time area representative Wilfred ‘Sedi’ Elrington, who announced his retirement on the day Patrick Faber became leader elect of the U.D.P. Martinez will face P.U.P. standard bearer Anthony Mahler. Things are moving along and according to Prime Minister Dean Barrow; Boots has enlisted Michael Finnegan as his campaign manager.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I understand that not only is he interested in contesting, I hear that he’s already acquired a campaign manager in the person of the one and only Michael Finnegan… So I don’t know how things will turn out. Again, I am sorry the leader-elect isn’t here but that there is that interest enabled, empowered, assisted by the Honorable Finnegan, of that there is no doubt.”
