Bz. City man shot in second attempt

Seven days after twenty-six year old Dean Bowden dodged a bullet that was apparently intended for him, the young man’s luck ran out. Bowden lies in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was shot in the neck around 1:15, Saturday morning. Police say Bowden was riding his bicycle toward the Belcan Roundabout when three men approached him on bikes. As they rode up to Bowden, one of them pulled out a gun and fired three shots. According to hospital officials, Bowden remains in critical condition. Meanwhile police say they believe the incident is connected to the shooting that took place on July tenth at the BTL Park on the Newtown Barracks. It is alleged that Bowden was in the company of some friends when they went to the park to buy hotdogs, but as the young men bought their food, four men entered the park and one of them apparently got into an argument with Bowden. A short time later, the man pulled out a gun and fired at Bowden but he managed to escape the bullet. Instead it caught sixteen-year old Roque Martinez in the head. Martinez’s condition has been improving but the young man remains in critical condition. Meanwhile police say they have not yet detained anyone in connection with either shooting incident.
