Will There Be a New P.U.P. Area Rep. for Fort George?
Two-term Prime Minister and Fort George Area Representative, Said Musa continues to recover from a stroke. The veteran politician suffered a very rare stroke in early May and received treatment here in Belize and the U.S. But with general elections just around the corner, there are questions on whether seventy-seven-year-old Musa will be able to run for another term in office and withstand a rigorous campaign. P.U.P. Leader John Briceño told the media today that the way forward will be decided in the next few weeks.
John Briceño, Leader of the Opposition
“Well in Fort George you know that we have a candidate right now. The official candidate is the right honourable Said Musa. Unfortunately he had a stroke and he has some health issues. Pretty soon within the next few weeks we will be deciding what is the way forward, what will be happening in the Fort George division. But trouble yourself Daniel the Fort George will stay P.U.P. whether the right honourable Said Musa stays there or whether we get a new candidate in that division.”
