Chairlady Says Santa Cruz Has Been Abandoned by Government

According to the chairlady, the residents of Santa Cruz have been abandoned by the government. She says that some families are only eating one meal per day.

On the Phone: Kimberly Medina, Chairlady, Santa Cruz Village

“We do not have no government help here. Last time our area representatives Gaspar Vega who resigned came to give help and he only gave it to three or four families. If government do want us to stop like he is saying that we are doing contraband here make the help our village because it is not fair for them to take something from them that the value is three thousand to four thousand. It was eleven, or twelve of them that were confiscated yesterday.”

“Do you know whether or not the Ministry of Human Development or anybody from the government given out food item or packages to anyone there in the village?”

On the Phone: Kimberly Medina

“No. Nothing has been given. Nothing has reached to the village. It all started good because I personally started to monitor that and I started to help people with the food packages but it send up being political, giving only to the U.D.P.s.  That is not fair because people were receiving and didn’t t have the necessity of that. I have villagers right now having, eating one meal per day. I think that is not fair because we are humans and we have rights.”
