San Marcos Villagers Receive Opposition from ‘Dump’ Residents

A week ago we told you about the initiative by residents of San Marcos Village in the south.  Residents have begun clearing a portion of the land along the highway, saying that they are taking what rightfully belongs to them.  But a group of residents of an area known as “Dump” in Big falls, says that San Marcos villagers are intruders.  They say that the residents are clearing land which does not fall under the jurisdiction of San Marcos and as such, does not belong to them.

Resident of “Dump”

“We as the residents of Dump here are very concern about the whole movement of San Marcos. On my part I do in regards to like the initiative of San Marco. But all I am asking San Marcos, the initiative is a good initiative; please have that initiative being done within your jurisdiction. All I am asking respect the boundaries of dump.  My biggest concern is the clearing being done by intruders into our community.”

Reporter

“Have you spoken to the Lands Department or to the chairman of the village?”

Resident of “Dump”

“For my knowledge so far is that we are waiting for a suggestion or a motion by the community chairman of Big Falls. Hopefully he will make one at the end of the day. But we are having our own executive at the end of the day for us to try to move forward.”
