Centenarian passes before 104th birthday
Birthday celebrations for centenarians are a regular feature on this newscast… and last July we attended a party for a hundred and three year old Isabel Garbutt, hosted by Helpage Belize. But sadly Garbutt did not live to see her one hundred and fourth birthday as she passed away on Saturday night. Here’s a short clip of Garbutt from her birthday party talking about how she lived as long as she did.

“I noh know yoh know ih just come right into me. Ih noh feel like I getting old. I feel good. I say I wonder. My father was ninety-nine. I am the only person in my whole family that live to see this age. I can’t believe it and I noh feel it. I noh feel it. You know ih just rarely the age that let you down you know it’s sickness but it’s really nice to see so many of your friends and family. Ih make you feel so new. You feel good, you feel like you get new strength. Ih give you courage to say well I must live lee longer.”
Garbutt’s funeral will be held on Tuesday at two p.m. at All Saints Church. Our condolences go out to Garbutt’s family and friends.
