A taxi fare robs and shoots his taxi driver
Police in Cayo are investigating a robbery which left a taxi driver with gunshot injuries. On Saturday night Gerson Ramirez was operating his taxi with his wife in the passenger seat when they stopped for a passenger on the Bullet Tree Road. That passenger asked to be taken to Santa Elena and on the way; he pulled out a firearm and robbed the taxi driver. A.C.P. Joseph Myvett says that investigators are looking for a named suspect.

“While himself and his common law wife were travelling on the Bullet Tree Road they were waved down by a Hispanic male passenger wearing a white long sleeve shirt and khaki pants who they stopped for. He indicated to them that he wanted to go to Santa Elena. As a result they took the direction to the new bridge and upon reach the bridge the passenger inquired if they had change for a fifty dollars Belize to which the taxi driver responded no. As a result he was then requested to go into the Branch Mouth Road and just about that time in doing so he became suspicious and brought the car to a stop. This was when the male person pulled out his firearm and a struggle ensued between himself and the tax driver. In the process the tax driver received several gunshots injuries but he was able to disarm the that male person. At this point in time the police are looking for a named suspect in relation to this investigation.”
