Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 Relief Fund Hands Over Cheque to the Belize Zoo

The best little zoo in world is located at mile twenty-nine on the George Price Highway. It is home to two hundred animals of forty-five species of Belizean wildlife.  Over the years, we have brought you hundreds of stories about the work they do and the animals they care for at the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center.  Well, tonight we have one more. As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought undue hardships everywhere. The zoo has been having a rough time with funds drying up as the number of visitors, both local and international, plunged. So it reached out to the Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 Relief Fund. It struck a chord since Lord Ashcroft is a passionate supporter of the wildlife and just recently released a book, “Unfair Game,” which documents the barbaric captive breeding of lions in South Africa. Today, the Chairman of the Fund, Lyndon Guiseppi, handed over a cheque of twenty thousand dollars, to Celso Pott of the zoo’s management team, which will be invested in the care of the animals at the facility.
