Monitoring Increase in COVID-19 Cases
The COVID-19 situation remains fluid and the National Oversight Committee has had to remain on the ball on an hourly basis. That’s according to AG Peyrefitte who sits on the N.O.C. He says that monitoring the increase takes place on the hour.

“We analyze them on a daily basis and that’s why yesterday we decided to relieve those areas of the extra strict measures and restrictions. So yes, we are considering in and if we have to put San Felipe under a special lockdown then that is exactly what we will do if we have to. However, as the prime minister has said over and over and the position that we have held is that we will try our very best not to do that because when you lockdown certain areas it becomes very punishing, becomes very inconvenient and it requires extra resources to police and man. We are hoping we don’t have to, but as we analyze San Felipe we will make a determination in the not too distant future and we will know whether or not we will put it under extra restrictions or not, and that goes for other areas that we look at on a constant basis. So it’s not San Felipe, but the entire country. We are constantly looking at the situation to see if the SI is too strict in one particular area or not strict enough in another particular area. We are constantly looking at the situation on the ground, constantly getting reports from the national security officers, as well the ministry of health officers and based on those reports, that’s how we make the adjustments to the SI. For example, we realize that the extra hour on the weekend or the extra two hours on the weekend was not necessary and hurting us actually and we realize that the extra hour that we could give to people during the week would actually help with commerce and business. So that was one of the reasons why we went to a straight across the board curfew of nine o’clock for everyday and that is why we have freed up some of the businesses to operate and restricted some of them.”
