ComPol Williams Speaks on Recent Killings
Earlier this week, three persons were killed in separate incidents. In San Ignacio on Monday night Joshua Villas and Anthony Tzul were targeted by a lone gunman. Villas died on the same night and Tzul died on Wednesday. Police have been unable to crack the double murders. In Orange Walk Town, Joaquin Perez was fatally stabbed and killed after he got into a fight with another man on Tuesday afternoon. His killer was detained but later released. According to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, there are some elements of self-defense that are being considered, and as such the file was returned to the D.P.P.’s office for final determination.
On the Phone: Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“The one in Orange Walk I was told that the D.P.P. representative in Orange Walk has directed the police to release the person, the suspect they have detained due to the fact, as again as I have said before, the elements of self defense. So that person has been released from custody and the police is now going to put the files together and it is going back to the D.P.P. in Orange Walk for a final determination on that matter.”
