Truck driver charged for causing death of 7 year old

Story PictureLast Friday, a seven year old student of Ladyville Adventist Primary School was killed in a gruesome traffic accident… and tonight the man behind the wheel has been charged. Elias Suarez was riding his bicycle on Perez Road when he was knocked down and his skull was crushed by the right rear wheel of a cargo truck driven by twenty-six year old, Johan Niekoley. Niekoley, a resident of Spanish Lookout, today appeared in Magistrate Court where he was charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle Without Due Care and Attention, Causing Death by Careless Conduct, and Manslaughter by Negligence. No plea was taken because the offences are indictable. Magistrate Tracy Sosa offered Niekoley bail of five thousand dollars and adjourned the case until May fifth. This is the second accident involving a primary school student on Perez Road and though it has not been brought up in this case, Ladyville residents have expressed concern that motorists speed in the area on a regular basis.
