Two held in boat theft

It wasn’t a hijack on the high seas but for one Belize City man, the theft of his boat was a big deal. 69-year old Lloyd Waite reported to police that sometime between Thursday and Friday, his 15-foot blue and white skiff with its 60-horse power engine had been stolen from its dock on Vernon Street. Taken together, the thieves had scored a $15,000 dollar heist. However police soon recovered the missing items in a canal near Sarstoon Street. It is not certain whether the thieves simply wanted to go fishing or just take a ride. In any case, police have arrested 2 men, 32-year old Rodwell Audinett and a 17-year old fisherman for theft.
