Vasquez Expected to Refund Monies if Found Culpable
Will former B.T.L. Chairman Nestor Vasquez refund every single dollar he allegedly spent on B.T.L.’s corporate credit card should the allegations made against him turn out to be true? According to PM Barrow, he expects that Vasquez will return the monies once he is found culpable of the abuse of the company’s credit card.

“Do we expect that if these allegations are proven true that this man should pay back what was taken, to put it that way?”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Well I wouldn’t know what to expect but I would hope that that would be the position and the Net Vasquez I know, if it turns out that there is confirmation that he benefited from the use of the credit card, he would be the first, in my view, to say, “What is the figure outstanding? I will pay it off: and in fact to make good on that commitment.”

“Can I circle back to my initial question to ask who, if anyone, is at the helm of the investigation at this point?”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“That’s what I am telling you, I can’t tell you who’s at the helm of the investigation. What I can tell you is that we’re making arrangements to appoint a new chair or an interim chair, a new chair but whose tenure will be fairly short-lived because the government, as the holder of the golden share appoints the chairman. My, and when we say the government, in effect the Minister of Finance, my tenure is coming to an end at the end of October or the early weeks in November. So the appointment that I would make now would be for a couple of reasons so that we can avoid a huge vacuum at the top, in terms of the board chairmanship. But it is also so that there can be someone as new chair that will be able to superintend the investigation, will be able to appoint the particular auditors, will be able generally to make certain that a process that is transparent and that can withstand public scrutiny, takes place.”
