Rotary donates hospital equipment

Thanks to a generous donation from a local public service organization, tonight the KHMH has a whole lot of new fixtures. The Rotary Club of Belize has teamed up with its counterpart in Bingham Massachusetts to ship much needed medical equipment to Belize. Yes, the stuff is used goods but according to International Community Director for Rotary Belize, Ernesto Vasquez, they’re still USABLE.

“It’s all what you would call medical equipment, hospital equipment: chairs, beds, drip stands, different types of wheelchairs. In fact, a lot of it, I don’t even know what they are, like this one passing in front of us now, it looks like a tray, a big tray. But it’s just medical equipment, a lot of it, 3 containers, 40-foot containers.”

“Now in the past, I know that some donations, while greatly appreciated, they have not been able to be used for one reason or another.”
Ernesto Vasquez
“I need to clear that when you give medical supplies then you have to be careful. This is medical equipment, medical furniture. So this can be used and this is why we’re here at the opening of these containers. That’s why myself and the incoming President, Mr. Adrian Roe is here and club member Jeremy Spooner. We’re all here for the reason that we want to see what’s coming out of these containers to make sure that what we asked for and what we said we wanted, we got.”
In addition to the Rotary Clubs in Massachusetts and Belize, the donation was made possible through the help of Hyde Shipping, the Belize Ports Authority and everyone who supports Rotary functions.
