Fuel prices up 25 cents per gallon
Government told us it was coming and today it did. As of this morning the retail price of regular and premium gasoline, as well as diesel was raised by 25 cents per gallon. This reflects radically higher acquisition costs for imported fuel, a result of recent steep rises in the global price of crude oil. In a statement released today government noted that international prices are expected to eventually recede and when they do, that drop will be passed on to consumers. The one fuel not going up in price is kerosene, as Belmopan will continue to absorb the increased cost by lowering import taxes. Kerosene is used by a large number of lower income and rural consumers for cooking and lighting.
