An Update on the M.S.M.E. Support Programme

The M.S.M.E. Support Programme was launched on August first to assist business owners who are feeling the economic brunt caused by the COVID pandemic. As of mid September, six hundred and ninety-three grants were paid amounting to one point seven million dollars and loans have been approved for one hundred and ninety-six businesses totalling two point nine million dollars.   Since its launch, a total of three thousand nine hundred and ninety-four applications were received, one thousand four hundred and eighty nine were abandoned meaning these were not completed; persons applied in error or were no longer interested in the programme. Six hundred and twenty-three applications are ongoing and one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two have been submitted. Payments are being disbursed through the National Bank of Belize.
