BTL holds open day

After E. P. Yorke’s successful EXPO on Tuesday, today, Belize Telecommunications Limited decided to take a stab at this open day thing. The company decked out their displays and invited their customers and students from all over the country. pretty soon, the compound on St. Thomas Street looked more like a mini fairground. The children were only too eager to reach out and touch EVERYTHING.

“The main objective is for them to walk away with a feeling of knowing a little more about BTL. They came, they saw and it’s a time for them to get to know BTL a little better, know about the services that they purchase, services that they want to purchase in the future.”

“This is an annual event, tell me why does BTL do this every year?”

“Well BTL is a member of the International Telecommunications Union and as a part of that union, they celebrate World Telecom Day each year on May 17th so that’s one of the reasons why BTL celebrates. It’s another occasion for us to showcase all our departments to show the public as well as students what we have to offer.”

“This year is a more special year for us because the employees are more involved. People are more excited this year and they’ve produced a lot better and the people who have visited the booths are a lot more pleased and are excited and this is an annual event like I’ve said before and we will continue this sort of event.”

According to BTL representatives, the company has celebrated World Telecom Day since 1988.
