Curfew on Election Day

Following a meeting of the National Oversight Committee earlier today, it has been agreed that new protocols regarding the COVID-19 pandemic will be implemented.  This comes amid a spike in the number of cases, as well as six other fatalities being recorded.  As a result of these developments, government will fast track private sector rapid testing, with accompanying measures for contact tracing that would need to take place with private sector detection.  While there is a surge in the number of COVID cases, the NOC agreed to recommend to Cabinet the imposition of a curfew on election night beginning at eight p.m. and will run through until five a.m. on November twelfth.  The NOC felt obliged to turn down all requests made for the relaxation of the restrictions pertaining to clubs, bars, casinos, and street vending. The NOC did, however, approve the protocols presented by the National Fitness Association (NAC) for the reopening of gyms. Again because of the current surge, the NOC decided that notwithstanding the meticulous and commendable work of the NAC proposal, the approved resumption of operations by gyms and fitness centers would now take place on November thirtieth instead of the requested date of October thirtieth.
