B.P.F. Leader on U.D.P./P.U.P. No Show for Debate
Also joining the debate is the Belize People’s Front leader Nancy Marin, who, along with twelve other B.P.F. candidates is on the ballot for the upcoming general elections. Marin is running against the P.U.P.’s Orlando Habet and the U.D.P.’s John August in the Cayo North East division. But even though the B.P.F. is not fielding enough candidates to secure majority seats in parliament, Marin says the party is hoping for a coalition government. She told News Five that she does not take the decision by Faber and Briceño not to take part lightly.
Nancy Marin, Leader, Belize People’s Front
“For the people of Belize, I am very insulted. I believe that it is irresponsible; it is negligent of leaders to not show up at a debate. Worldwide, world leaders and heads of state have to debate, but the P.U.P. and the U.D.P. are accustomed to buying the elections. And they are betting on that. They are betting that the Belizean people will continue to sell their votes and they don’t have to be answerable. And that is despicable, it’s sickening and it should not be tolerated.”
