Orange Walk Town Councillor Fined for Breach of Curfew
Orange Walk Town Councilor Haresh Vaswani is finding himself in more political trouble tonight. On Wednesday, the councilor warded off political attacks that put him in a comprising position. He was accused of breaking COVID-19 regulations by being part of a partying group that exceeded the limit on social gatherings. Vaswani explained that the videos shared on social media were before the pandemic. Vaswani, however, has been fined for breach of curfew by the Orange Walk Magistrate court. This is about an incident dating back to April. He was arrested for violating the State of Emergency regulations. He explained that he had just finished packaging food items and was heading home when about five o’clock he decided to hitch a ride with a friend who took a detour. He and his friends appeared before the magistrate last week Tuesday and were all found guilty. They were fined one thousand five hundred dollars each.
