Prison C.E.O. Makes an Appeal for Five Escapees on the Run…

It’s been over two weeks since they escaped from prison – and tonight five of the escapees remain on the run. They are Carlos Montejo; Jaroud Lamb; Michael Faux; Enrique Martinez and Erwin Lanza. We asked C.E.O. of Kolbe Foundation Virgilio Murillo about these inmates who are still at large. Murillo says that he remains positive that they will be captured but he believes that the men are getting the assistance from the public. He appeals for those with information to make a report to the authorities.

“Obviously, they are being assisted on the outside. I want to urge whoever is assisting them, if they are watching on TV or later on social media to let them think about it seriously because whoever is caught harboring a prison can find themselves in prison because it is a mandatory prison sentence that the law speaks about as much as two years, whether you are a family or friend. I want to remind the public, that anybody who escapes from the prison regardless of what crime they may have come to the prison for, I believe they are a real danger to the society. I see them as desperate people, and desperate people like I say, do desperate things. So, you cannot say that because the guy came for face mask and he escaped that he wouldn’t do something out of the way to survive. Don’t underestimate an escaped prisoner. So, I want to urge them to take heed of what I am saying and please do their civic duty which is to turn them in or report on their sighting so that the prison and the police can respond and grab them.”

“Only five more on the run, how hopeful are you that they are going to be captured?”

“I am very hopeful. They are all Belizeans and the chicken must come home to roost – that is a fact of life. Like Bob Marley, you can run but you cannot hide. So, it is a just a matter of time  and we are hoping that within the next week or two we should have them back – all of them.”

“And no problems from those who were recaptured – they are safely behind bars?”

“They are safely behind bars and they will not be able to escape from where they are. We have them properly secured. I’ll tell you what – they we have gotten smarter over this whole incident. Let’s put it that way.”
