Bus Ticketing System is Implemented
Last week we told you about the bus ticketing system that was being implemented today. This morning, all buses that operate out of a bus terminal were mandated to sell tickets for passengers to board the buses. Today, the Department of Transport was out in full force at the bus terminal in Belmopan to ensure adherence to the new regulation that forms part of the COVID-19 containment measures as mandated by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Regulation and Quarantine Regulations. During our stop at the terminal, passengers were complying and were in lines buying tickets before they boarded the buses. According to the Department of Transport, the sale of tickets and sanitization of buses are the responsibilities of bus owners. The ticketing of public buses is to help ensure that buses are not going beyond their passenger capacity which leads to overcrowding. If you see buses failing to abide by these new measures, you are asked to contact the Transport Department.
